“A crucial milestone” — EnergyWatch
Vestas has received type certification from DNV for its large offshore wind turbine V236-15.0 MW, of which the wind turbine manufacturer installed its first prototype at Østerild test center in December 2022.
This is according to Recharge News.
”The type certificate is a crucial milestone. It proves that the V236-15.0 MW is ready for commercial use, ensuring safety, quality and regulatory compliance,” says Anne Vedel, Head of Product Solutions and Integration at Vestas.
Vestas first unveiled the V236 turbine back in February 2021. Earlier this year, the turbine set a world record for power production in 24 hours. It stood at 363 megawatt-hours.
Since the launch of the turbine, Vestas has secured preferred supplier agreements for more than 10 gigawatts.
”Across the entire Vestas value chain, we are getting ready to deliver on commercial projects with series production planned for 2024,” Vestas writes on its website.
