This change comes at a time when a considerable portion of teenagers, about 60%, are showing a strong inclination towards entrepreneurship, thereby enriching the economic landscape with their innovative spirit.

The enthusiasm for self-employment, the new legislation may pose challenges for freelancers, with a Massachusetts study indicating that 58% of app-based jobs. The e-commerce sector is also experiencing shifts, with eBay announcing a reduction of approximately 1,000 jobs, which is about 9% of its workforce. The company’s CEO has attributed this decision to the need for realignment of resources to better support business growth and improve the global customer experience. EBay’s move mirrors a broader trend of workforce adjustments in the US tech industry, with giants like Amazon and Alphabet also recalibrating their staffing strategies post-pandemic.

These organizational changes, eBay reported robust financial results for Q3 2023, with a 5% year-over-year increase in revenue and a 2% growth in Gross Merchandise Volume. The survey underscores that 64% of individuals under 35 either freelance or plan to do so, while only 31% of the older demographic considers freelancing. This trend is further bolstered by the increasing demand for high-skilled freelancers in fields such as software development, data science, consulting, and web design, which are contributing to the expansion of the freelance market.
