Vestas wins 780 megawatt offshore wind turbine contract — EnergyWatch
Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has been awarded a contract for turbines for a large offshore wind farm in Dutch waters.
The order was placed by Ecowende, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco, and includes 52 V236-15.0 MW turbines.
This brings the total turbine capacity to 780 megawatts.
However, the grid-connected capacity is 760 megawatts, but in addition, there is an excess capacity of 20 megawatts to ensure ”as efficient interconnection capacity as possible, even when production is lower”, Vestas writes in an announcement on Friday.
The turbines will be installed in the Hollandse Kust West offshore wind farm. Installation of the offshore turbines is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026 and the plan is to commission the offshore wind farm by the end of 2026.
The parties have also signed a subsequent 15-year service agreement.
